At the end of August, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) Board of Directors gave the green light to the Dorrance Street Transit Center project, a $250M P3 that will build a new transit center in downtown Providence. The unanimous board vote finalized the selection of Next Wave Rhode Island Partners as the concessionaire for the P3, which will replace the current Kennedy Plaza bus depot with a state-of-the-art transit center. RIPTA is hailing the new center project as a significant step forward for Rhode Island’s public transportation system.
