The city of San Francisco has approved a project agreement for the Potrero Yard Modernization P3, marking a major step as the progressive P3 moves out of predevelopment and into the development phase. The milestone is a win for the unique redevelopment project, which has caught the attention of other transit agencies nationwide, and for progressive P3s generally, as it marks another successful transition out of a joint predevelopment agreement.
The Potrero Bus Yard project will redevelop a century-old 4.4 acre municipal bus maintenance yard near the Mission District in San Francisco, both expanding capacity and transitioning the facility to maintain battery-powered buses. The procurement includes a significant element of land value capture, as the transition to electric vehicles will allow for a major housing development to be built on top of the new facility as well. The project will be delivered under a DBFOM concession with a 30-year operations and maintenance term.
